Ken Bauer began his company over 15 years ago, traveling through the old colonial haunts of the British, Dutch, and French. He found unique pieces of furniture still being made in these locations, which ranged from the tea plantations of India to the Kenyan Savannah to the lush island of Java. Combining a passion for travel and culture and their love of fine craftsmanship, Ken and his wife Dee Ann, set out on a personal journey to develop a line of hand crafted furnishings and travel accessories. From the rainforest huts of Java, sugar plantations in the West Indies and tented safaris on the Kalahari, relationships with master craftsmen were forged and centuries-old techniques were rekindled. Each of their creations is individually hand-crafted and has its own story, its own soul. Created using the same centuries-old techniques as the original master craftsmen, each piece is hand-crafted using mortise-and-tenon joinery, lost-wax brass castings, durable shellacs and hand-rubbed waxes.
