Style for Life Means Enduring Quality From the furniture grade wood veneer on the blades to the bearings in the motor, the exquisite craftsmanship of a Casablanca fan extends deep beneath its finish. Discerning consumers know that quality construction and meticulous attention to detail create a superior product, which will ultimately yield superior performance and lasting durability. The following pages outline the process behind Casablanca's legendary reputation for quality and reliability. Read on through the various phases of development, as one of Casablanca's flagship products, the 19th Century evolves from inception through final inspection.

Phase I: Concept
The 19th Century fan began as a thought... an idea. Even in today's computerized world, the sketchpad remains the starting point for many new ideas. Pencil and paper began a labor of love that moved elegantly from concept to reality. The goal was simple: to create an original and authentic fan of the highest quality, representative of the gaslight era.

Phase II: Design and Engineering
Rough concepts evolved into detailed renderings, Computers aided in the exploration of dimensions, textures, shapes, and colors, as designers and engineers worked in close collaboration. Prototypes were subjected to the most challenging conditions. Each process was long, arduous, and ultimately worth every painstaking step.

Phase III: Manufacturing
Each 19th Century component is created for a specific purpose. Materials were chosen for quality, durability, and beauty, then crafted and honed until form and function perform as one.

Use of virgin zinc (not re-melted scrap) creates die-cast housings blade holders, and other components of substantial weight, structural integrity, and inherent beauty.

Phase IV: Finished Metal
There are no less than 15 different steps in the plating process of the 19th Century fan. The finishes are applied in meticulous steps for exceptional durability and a brilliant jewel-like finish.

Several steps of the plating process are shown to the left.

Phase V: Hand-made Glass
The custom glass shades for the 19th Century are hand-blown in France in the world-renowned Vianne factory. After being molded into their distinctive shape, skilled artisans hand-silkscreen the vintage-era pattern on the glass.

Phase VI: Finished Wood
The distinctively-shaped custom 19th Century blades consist of six inner layers of wood in a cross-laminated pattern that are finished with two outer layers of real Mahogany or Cherry furniture-grade wood veneer.

Phase VII: Inspection
Before being packed for shipping, every component of the 19th Century fan is carefully inspected. Every detail is given meticulous attention under strict quality control standards and the final product is inspected to ensure proper form, fit and function.
