Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) Regarding Chantal Products
What are the advantages of Chantal enamel-on-steel cookware?
It can withstand temperatures from the freezer to the broiler. The non-porous enamel won't interact with foods or flavors, so you can store leftovers or make-ahead meals in the refrigerator or freezer. The easy-to-clean enamel has naturally stick-resistant properties, which means you can use less oil. There's no polishing or seasoning required . The core of carbon steel, on the bottom and all the way up the sides, heats faster and more evenly.
Where is Chantal made?
The enamel pots are made in Germany, where for centuries, the art of enameling has been perfected. Germany is the world leader in high-quality enameling. The glass lids are made in Japan, and the cookware is designed and assembled in Houston, Texas, making Chantal a truly international pot!
Are the glass lids oven-proof?
Chantal's glass lids are not as fragile as they appear. They are made of tempered glass, the same material as a car's windshield, and are oven safe up to 375 degrees, typically higher than what most recipes for covered cooking call for.
Can I buy glass lids separately?
Yes. Lids are available for most pieces. To learn more, call 1-800-365-4354, ext. 656 to order.
My teakettle stopped whistling, what can I do?
The whistle is an important feature of the Chantal teakettle because it prevents boiling the kettle dry. If your teakettle doesn't whistle, use the checklist below. Make adjustments to your teakettle only when it's cool to avoid the dangers of hot water and steam.
• Make sure your Hohner whistle is free of mineral deposits by boiling a solution of 1 quart water and ¼ cup vinegar in your kettle for 10 to 15 minutes.
• Push down on the lid to make sure it's on tight. Also, make sure the gasket is in place. The gasket is the black rubber ring on the lid rim.
• Push the lever to flip the whistle up from the spout. You will see the small metal tongue, which creates tension. Use a flathead screwdriver, try to gently push the metal tongue inward or outward to adjust the tension.
• Push the lever to flip the whistle up from the spout. You will see the tuning plate on the inside of the whistle, and there will be a screw in the middle. Using a flathead screwdriver, gently adjust the screw by tightening or loosening it.
If your teakettle still does not whistle, contact Chantal Customer Service at 1-800-365-4354 or 713-467-9949. For help with your teakettle, contact ext. 654. To order spare parts, contact ext. 656.
What if my teakettle's whistle flipper does not close properly or sticks?
Remember, the whistle on your teakettle has several moving parts. As such, the flipper might become a little difficult to close. There is a very simple solution to remedy this situation. Just open the flipper of the whistle and spray a small amount of cooking oil onto the end of the metal tongue, and ...VOILA, the flipper opens and closes smoothly again.
How long can I expect Chantal's non-stick surface to last?
Chantal backs their Excalibur non-stick system with a '25 year limited warranty'. Used by finer cookware manufacturer's, Chantal's Excalibur® non-stick system is one of the toughest, most durable non-stick systems in the world.

Most non-stick surfaces are a simple coating applied over a metal substrate, with some surface penetration. The Excalibur® system includes a matrix of stainless steel that is bonded to Chantal's pot, actually becoming part of it. Two non-stick coatings are then applied into and over the stainless steel matrix.
Excalibur is a registered trademark of Whitford Corp.
