With the Spring High Point, NC Furniture Market now over, AICO is pleased to announce the return of two of their most popular and best selling collections-Monte Carlo II and Venetian II. These two Mediterranean/Western European influenced collections reflect the grandiose style and attention to detail that AICO furniture and desinger Michael Amini are well-known and respected for.

Our own AICO expert Jeff M. had the privlege and pleasure of visiting the AICO showroom during the Spring Market. To everyone's surprise, AICO's newest collaborative designer Jane Seymour was present as well. Recognized everywhere for her work in television and film (including a special guest appearance at the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton), as well as being a noted artist and jewelry designer with her Open Heart series, she was described as a "very gracious" representative for AICO and a remarkably creative designer. She was most notably excited to speak of her involvement in the design of the Hollywood Swank and Palace Gates collections - which are now featured right here at Carolina Rustica.

Cortina

Discover elegance in every curve of the Cortina collection. This collection from the Michael Amini Original Furniture Designs resembles the beauty of the region, and the striking details of each piece are sure to be a conversation starter, bringing a piece of Italy to any home. Carefully crafted using Birch Solids, and Cherry and Mapa Burl Veneers, this collection stands out among others. Eden

The Garden of Eden is often thought of as Paradise, and as such, is an apt name for this collection from the Michael Amini Original Furniture Designs. Eden brings the flair of European "Old World" styling, and ties it all together by featuring a Lion's paw motif, like on the King Poster Bed. It is beautifully crafted in Birch solids and veneers, with inlays of Ash Burl that are able to show off the exquisite details of the pieces, seen in the Gentleman's Chest. Dramatic intricate carvings are found throughout the collection, as marble compliments the tops of the Bedside Chest and Dresser, while curved beveled glass adds to the beauty and charm. The solid construction of the drawers features both English and French dovetailing with a ball bearing drawer glide system, creating pieces that are not found elsewhere, like the Curio. The collection is then finished in a gorgeous Amaretto color with silver dry brushing, and with slight antiquing and distressing that brings out the feelings of paradise, and adds warmth to any room.

Essex Manor

The genesis of this European inspired collection originates in the heart and soul of the British Isles. The British Isles typically include the islands of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and Ireland, as well as numerous other smaller islands. This part of the world is steeped in history, and journeys through this region will result in numerous castle sightings, ruins, and remarkable architecture. With these lands as the backdrop and inspiration for Essex Manor, the collection is one that will bring forth images of grandeur, and wealth. The detailed carvings and intricate metal designs enhance the rich finish that is aptly named Deep English Tea. The dining room group features a Rectangular Dining Table supported by two very detailed metal pedestals, and lushly Upholstered Leather Seating, while the bedroom group includes a lavish Poster Bed featuring shaped metal posts, and a handsome Gentleman's Chest. The occasional group unveils a Barrel-Shaped End Table unique to the line. The detailed, signature leaf carvings are the focal point on the Sofa, occasional tables, dining room and bedroom. Constructed from Birch Solids, and topped with Birch and Cherry Veneers, this is a collection that is timeless.

Excelsior

AICO introduces the stately majesty of the Excelsior collection of fine furniture. As part of the Michael Amini Original Furniture Designs, this noble line features finery that rivals expensive antiques. Excelsior is carefully constructed using Birch solids and cherry veneers that are all bathed in a warm Fruitwood finish and all merge together with intricate carvings, old-world craftsmanship, and modern convenience to signify a posh lifestyle, found in the Bar. Like AICO's other collections, the hidden extras truly add value to this exquisite line. Excelsior comes from the Latin word meaning "lordly," and as such makes a statement in any home. With its illuminated base, the Mansion Bed creates a look that is not found elsewhere, and makes the piece that much more special to the layout of the bedroom. When combined with the other available bed pieces, like the Armoire and Bedside Chest, a room is created that could be found in any noble castle.

Lavelle

The influence of French regal comes to life with unique wing shaped headboards and footboards, and scallop shaped pieces throughout the collection, like the Bar. A classic French look, with a chic twist depicting a hip, couture feel, Lavelle is finished in two styles: a high gloss black Armoire and a white finish Armoire, and is adorned with a glazed silver metallic tipping that highlights the traditional carvings, seen in the Console Table. Accenting pieces throughout the collection are genuine Swarovski crystals, which provide unique points of interest.

Oppulente

The Oppulente collection is influenced by the divergent cultures of the three continents that make up the Mediterranean coastline, seen in the Dresser. Spanish, Moorish and Italian origins converge to create an abundance of finely crafted details, like the posts of the King Bed. The Moors created some of the finest city plans in ancient history. The city of Cordoba for example, had running water, air conditioning, heating, and working lampposts that lit the streets at night, causing Cordoba to be one of the most cosmopolitan cities of its time, inspiring the Bar. Italy has been the source of many of our modern pieces of architecture, whereas Spain is home to some of the greatest architectural sites in the world. With these influences merging together in one collection, the Oppulente collection has become a unique experience, like the Sweetheart Chair. Offered in warm Sienna Spice finish, this collection is sure to impress with its ornate metalwork, exquisite marble inlays and intricate carvings. Like the timeless treasures that inspired it, Oppulente will bring home feelings of both tranquility and affluence.

Palais Royale

The Palais Royale collection is reminiscent of the elaborate detailing of the classic French Rococo styling with its intricate veneer work, undulating curves and exuberant floral embellishments. French Rococo came to creation during the late 17th and late 18th centuries, with the word originating from a combination of the French word "rocaille," or shell, and the Italian "barocco," or Baroque style, like the Dining Table. It is most well known for its use of asymmetrical compositions, undulating lines, and S-curves. Rococo furniture took on a role of comfort and versatility, and Palais Royale follows the example, seen in the Sofa. Throughout the collection, the accent furniture pieces can be moved from room to room, seamlessly blending into the décor, like the Chair and a Half. As well, each piece has been carefully designed for maximum comfort. The magnificent Queen Mansion Bed boasts a unique pillowed wood design that beckons a closer look. Like its predecessors, this Rococo styling contains lighter elements, with plenty of curves, and natural, intricate patterns. It is scaled and proportioned to suit any home with impressive elegance, and is finished in a wonderful Rococo Cognac.

The Sovereign

The opulent, and posh The Sovereign bedroom group brings the influence of European antiques to life with traditional carvings, detailed looping, harlequin marble, and a subtle cafe latte finish called Soft Mink, proudly displayed by the Media Cabinet. Solid birch is used throughout the collection because of its close grains, and satiny texture, and the carefully applied café latte finish enhances the natural beauty of the wood, seen in the King Panel Bed. Soft curves, hand carvings, and silver and gold tipping are harmoniously tied together with decorative hardware, while drawing influence from classic European architecture, like the Dresser.

Trevi

With classic styling borrowed from Eastern Europe and the Mediterranean, the Trevi collection makes a statement about grandeur. With inspiration taken from the ancient town in Umbria, Italy, the pieces are all reminiscent of traditional Italian design elegance. Skilled craftsmen and artisans have artistically weaved together the Birch solids, Ash Burl veneers, marble tops, and smoked glass that is seen throughout the collection. Each piece has that unique feel to it that gives a sense of being one of a kind. The formal Dining Room Table emulates a cradle effect and seats up to 12 people comfortably, perfect for large family gatherings. The Chairs are resplendent with the qualities of a throne, as they feature cabriole legs and bombe fronts. The master bedroom showcases a regal King Poster Bed, with tufted leather surrounding a shield motif on the headboard. Finally, the case goods feature metal marquetry, acid etched patterned drawers, cabriole legs and bombe fronts, bringing home the supreme elegance of classic taste, like the Gentleman's Chest. Tuscano

In the tradition of the Tuscany region of Italy, AICO introduces the casual elegance of the Tuscano Collection. Part of the Michael Amini Original Furniture Designs, this magnificent collection features fine Italian leather inlays attached with hand applied brass nail-head trim, like the Leather and Fabric Sofa. Butterscotch marble inlays, and hand carved acanthus leaves give this off-the-floor collection a truly unique look and feel, and brings home the warmth of the Tuscan sun, seen in the Cocktail Table. Because Tuscany is considered the birthplace of the Renaissance movement, this collection follows tradition, and is highly artistic and unique. It has taken the mediums of marble, leather, wood, metal, and glass, and has woven them all together to create pieces that will stand out in any home, and could easily feel at home in the country, or in a castle, like the Queen Mansion Bed. Featuring Pine solids and veneers wrapped in a warm, rustic "Biscotti" finish with clipped corner bombe styling on the case goods, Tuscano brings forth a vision of Italian grandeur.

Villa Valencia

The look and feel of Old World Spain have been beautifully captured in this grand collection, designed exclusively for the Michael Amini Original Furniture Designs. Beautifully crafted from Birch solids with Cherry, Pecan, and Elm Burl veneers, the distinctive marquetry and intricate embellishments compliment a classic chestnut finish, seen in the Round Dining Table. Uniquely twisted and shaped marble pilasters with carved wooden leaves wrapping around adorn some of the pieces, like the Writing Desk. Villa Valencia draws its inspirations from the city of Valencia, in Spain. The name itself comes from the Latin name of the city, Valentia, which means "strength," and "vigor." As it sits in the center of the Spanish Mediterranean coastline, Valencia overlooks the Gulf of Valencia, and is backed by mountains and rolling plains, creating a breathtaking environment. This area has seen numerous historical events, and as such, its character has continually developed. The Villa Valencia collection draws from this history, and from its marble relief to the unique multi-faceted beveled glass encasements, like the Curio, Villa Valencia is a timeless collection to be treasured year after year.

Windsor Court

The Windsor Court collection is an original furniture design from the Michael Amini Original Furniture Designs.
