Craftsmen labored nearly 28 years under the direction of architecht Julia Morgan to create the estate known as Hearst Castle, once the private home of publisher William Randolph Hearst. Now an historic landmark in the California State Parks system, the 165 rooms and 127 acres of gardens, terraces and pools provide the inspiration for a stunning collection of furnishings.

Hearst invited all of his guests to gather in the Assembly Room to socialize before dinner. Celebrities like Charles Lindbergh and Cary Grant would sip cocktails or play poker in these opulent surroundings.
