Hubbardton Forge epitomizes the great New England colonial tradition of integrity, hard work, and practical design. The company began when its founders first fired up the forge in a drafty old barn in the town of Hubbardton, Vermont in 1974. They scavenged throughout New England gathering rusting anvils and other discarded tools of the trade, bringing back to life the rich heritage of the blacksmith trade to their corner of Vermont. They set out to master the art of black-smithing, mentored by the few remaining local craftsmen who still hand-forged iron farm implements and iron furniture. Over the years the two man studio has grown into a strong domestic manufacturing company. Today, the barn is gone and a 129,000 square foot manufacturing facility has taken its place. Despite the change in size, Hubbardton Forge is still defined by what was best in craftsmanship and best for community and the environment. Hubbardton Forge original designs are more forward-looking than ever.
Blended with the time honored traditions of hand forging are some of the best applications of modern technology. Hubbardton Forge utilizes award winning, environmentally sound finishing systems that provide the quality and efficiencies and gives Hubbardton Forge more time for designing and hand forging their products.
