Kincaid Furniture

Kincaid Furniture is an iconic American furniture manufacturer, and we are really excited about bringing them into our showroom and online. Kincaid is one of the most storied North Carolina furniture brand names that has endured for decades with good reason. Their product line is varied, but quality built and incredibly affordable. And while it's been said that "things aren't made the way they used to be," at Kincaid that's not exactly true. While several enhancements have been made since their beginnings in 1946, they still use solid wood construction, wood-on-wood drawer movement, and hand rubbed finishes to craft their wood furniture.

One of Kincaid's most popular and classic groups is the Carriage House Collection. Staying true to form from the classic 18th Century and the Queen Ann period silhouettes, the Carriage House collection generates an image of well loved furniture that has existed in the homes and hearts of Americans for generations. Elegant carvings, classic rice carved beds and bronzed hardware are just a few of the characteristics of the Carriage House collection that were inspired from the most prized pieces of the 18th Century. Solid wood pieces in Carriage House feature traditional English dovetailed drawers and authentic mortise and tenon joinery, all finished in a rich, hand-rubbed cherry patina.

Genuine solid wood is used on all exterior panels and shaped edges to provide quality and beauty that will last for generations. Kincaid does not use veneers, which often crack and peel over time. Many furniture manufacturers only use solid wood on drawer fronts, while the remainder of the product is veneer over particleboard. A wood-on-wood non-tilting, dovetailed drawer guide is used in the installation of all Kincaid drawers.
Where the design allows, heavy front posts are used for additional case stability and strength. Floating Panels are defined by raised panel doors and bed panels that utilize a floating, self-centering construction technique.
Kincaid's dovetail drawer construction utilizes the best dovetail for each application. Where construction allows, English dovetails on the drawer front and back create a tight fit and add exceptional holding power. Adjustable Glides are provided on all units for leveling doors and on select units for a center support.
All Kincaid solid wood chairs are crafted using a glue and screw technique across a finger-jointed corner, adding strength to the chair while minimizing flex across the joint. Shaped edges are constructed of solid wood, unlike many manufacturers who use banded veneers, to provide premium quality and durability.
Mortise and Tenon Joints are used extensively. Kincaid's case construction features mortise and tenon joinery, a time-proven method of assembling two parts at a 90 angle. Fully floating tops, end panels, bed panels, etc. are incorporated into every Kincaid product to allow for normal expansion and contraction of the solid wood components as the humidity changes in your home.

Kincaid, in keeping with its tradition in styling, materials and finish, crafts its furniture collections using primarily solid woods selected for grain clarity, color coordination and design. Combinations of different solid wood species are used within each collection. Not all exposed surfaces of every collection are constructed of solid wood. Wood products, multi-layered plywood, veneers and laminates are used for certain structural elements, including exposed surfaces that support leather, cane wicker and other non-wood materials, as well as in select components including some decorative table tops, table skirts, bed rails, interior surfaces, back panels, pullout trays, serving surfaces, etc. Some of their furniture features metal, stone, marble, granite or a composite material with the appearance of these elements.
