Here we have found some helpful information from Sadek to help you care for and enjoy your tabletop product for many years to come.
Are Sadek tabletop products dishwasher safe?
For all Andrea by Sadek, fine Japanese porcelain tabletop products hand washing is recommended. These items are not guaranteed to be dishwasher safe. In reality, these items can be placed in the dishwasher with no immediate effects. However, over time the colors of the decoration will fade. This process usually takes a number of years, but varies with the frequency of dishwashing and the type of automatic dishwasher used. However, less fading will occur if you utilize the fragile or low temperature settings on your dishwasher.
How should I clean my porcelain bisque figurines?
To clean our porcelain bisque figurines, first dust the pieces. If further cleaning is needed, use mild soap and luke warm water to gently wipe the pieces, or dip the pieces into a sink or bucket of water. It is recommended that you let each piece air-dry.
Are Sadek cookware and serveware items safe to use in the oven and microwave?
Andrea by Sadek makes a specialized line of porcelain bakeware product specifically designed for use in both regular ovens and microwaves. These products are always clearly identified with a fired on backstamp indicating that they are safe for use in all ovens including microwaves. Although these pieces usually feature a gold colored border, these borders are painted with a special non-metallic gold paint and are safe for microwave use.
Most other porcelain and ceramic serveware including many Andrea by Sadek products should not be used in regular ovens. The porcelain and ceramics are always somewhat porous and if not specifically designed for oven use they may crack when exposed to rapid changes in temperature. Also many ceramic pieces use glazes which may craze when exposed to rapid changes in temperature.
Generally all porcelains and most ceramics can be used in the microwave as long as they do not have metallic content (usually gold, silver, or platinum used in the decoration). Many Andrea by Sadek porcelain pieces do feature metallic gold borders and these should never be placed in the microwave unless they have the specific backstamp that they are safe for microwave use.
How should I take care of my outdoor metal garden accessories?
All outdoor metals, Iron, Aluminum and Brass based items, need to be treated.
The items are currently treated with a rust-resistant undercoat, but will rust over time. To prevent rusting, you may treat the item with a clear rustproof coating. Rustproof coatings may change the color and appearance of the item's finish.
How should I take care of my indoor metal home furnishings?
For Bronze and Golden Bronze finishes and Antique Brass and Lacquered Brass, we do not recommend any type of metal cleaners. All one needs to do is dust. If you own a brass accessory which is not lacquered, we recommend a good brass polish.
How should I take care of my silver plated products?
All Andrea by Sadek silver products are silver-plated, usually over brass but occasionally over steel or aluminum.
Lacquer-coated silver plated items:
Some of our silver-plated products (decorative use items) are also protected with a lacquer coating. Lacquer coated silver pieces are shipped with a white adhesive "lacquered" label. These pieces should never be polished. Dusting should be all that is required. The lacquer coating can be easily damaged by more aggressive cleaning. Once this coating is damaged it will be very difficult to restore the item to polished finish.
Unprotected daily use silver-plated items:
Most of our daily use silver-plated items are not lacquered but a strong anti-tarnishing agent is used during plating. These pieces will tarnish over time and will require polishing. We recommend a silver-plate polishing cloth. Never use an abrasive polish designed for use with sterling silver.
Antiqued silver-plated items:
Some of our embossed silver-plated items are protected by a black antiquing. This is apparent by the black highlights in the deeper embossed areas. This antiquing keeps the air away from the silver and prevents tarnishing. Dusting with a damp cloth is all that is required for these antiqued items. Should you choose to scrub away this antiquing you can still polish these pieces to a beautiful shine with a silver-plate polishing cloth. Never use an abrasive polish designed for use with sterling silver.
How should I take care of my porcelain and ceramic tabletop accessories?
Hand washing is recommended on all dinnerware, chargers, vases and accessories. The cookware is oven to table to microwave safe. We do not recommend the microwave oven on any of our other items.
