Carolina Rustica is a 17-year old company that has has grown through the years by offering an honest, customer-focused approach to selling fine North Carolina furniture, lighting and mattresses. We operate a large retail store in Concord, NC and a website. We operate them together as one business and serve customers all across the country. Our philosophy is to be as transparent as possible to our customers and our manufacturing partners. We want you to know who we are and how we operate to increase your confidence in buying from us...after all, furniture is a big investment and you should be comfortable with your purchase. Its going to be in your home a long time, and so will the memory of the buying experience.
October 2012: Carolina Rustica becomes part of the Mattress USA family
On October 1, Carolina Rustica became part of Mattress USA, based in Brighton, Michigan. This dynamic, growing company operates several retail stores in Michigan as well as one the country's most active websites for mattresses, featuring Serta, Sealy, Stearns & Foster and many more. The company operates Carolina Rustica as a stand-alone division, but supports it with administrative and operational infrastructure. This also allows us to offer our customers access to these great mattress and bedding lines with great pricing and the outstanding customer service we are known for.
A Little History
For five years, we ran a successful retail furniture and gift gallery in Charlotte, NC. Opened in 1996, Himal Home Gallery featured one-of-a-kind rustic and provincial home furnishings from near and far. The award-winning gallery presented a rich blend of hand-crafted furniture, decorative and practical home items. Hand forged iron furniture, such as canopy beds and sleigh beds, featured prominently in our store, and soon became a best-selling line. In 1997, Himal Home Gallery went online and presented an array of best-selling home accent items to internet buyers. It quickly became apparent that the demand for quality wrought-iron furniture was much greater than we anticipated. Carolina Rustica was our response to this demand. In 2000, we relocated our Charlotte store and relaunched as Carolina Rustica, and we have been growing nonstop ever since, with over 20,000 square feet of showroom display in our Gibson Mills location. In 2012, we became part of the Mattress USA family (based in Brighton, MI), and we are proud to offer their complete line of mattress manufacturers.
Starting with iron beds and furniture, we grew the business with fine suppliers like Charleston Forge, Century Furniture, and more. At the same time, we added complimentary lighting lines such as Hubbardton Forge, Hinkley Lighting, Currey and Company, Fine Art Lamps, Minka Lavery, and more. We now proudly represent over 100 lines of furniture, upholstery, mattresses, lighting, and ceiling fans. Our most recent additions include AICO Furniture, Bernhardt Furniture, Hooker Furniture, Schnadig Furniture, Century Furniture, Habersham Furniture, Stanley Furniture and Hickory White. We have received significant press coverage over the last few years with regards to our small-business growth, our use of technology, and our blending of a brick-and-mortar store with our web business.
